# Projects and boards

> Projects hold your work. Boards hold the canvas.

## Dashboard

The sidebar has three views:

* **Recents**: your projects.
* **Shared with you**: projects others invited you to.
* **Trash**: deleted projects.

Switch between grid and list view. **Search workspace** matches project titles and descriptions, plus a **Blocks & boards** section that searches inside every project you can open.

## Templates

**New project** opens the template picker. Filter by audience (Students, Design, Engineering, Product, Founders, Marketing, Writing, Teaching, Research) or start from **Blank canvas**.

Templates include Kanban board, Brainstorm, Study planner, Essay planner, Lesson plan, Literature review, Research synthesis, User flow, Visual direction, Product roadmap, Retrospective, System design, Lean canvas, Pitch deck, Campaign planner, Content calendar, Story development, and Shot list.

An empty board also offers **Browse templates**.

## Boards

A project opens on its main board. Add a **Board** block to nest a sub-board, and double-click it to go inside. Breadcrumbs at the top show where you are.

To rename a board, click its name in the breadcrumbs (or the pencil icon).

## Search the canvas

Press <kbd>Cmd/Ctrl</kbd> + <kbd>K</kbd> or click the search icon. Results are grouped into **This project** and **Other projects**. Click one to jump to the block.

## Edit, delete, restore

Only the owner can edit a project's title, description, and visibility, or delete it.

Deleting moves a project to **Trash** for 30 days. From there you can **Restore** it, **Delete forever**, or **Empty trash**. A trashed project disappears for everyone it was shared with.
